Today in church, during the baby dedication, this verse was up on the screen,
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, and are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28) As I reflected on this verse I thought of the story in this blog. For those who have a love for God even trials work together for good. Our part is to love God; His part is the good that comes out of any situation. The worst that can happen to us is to experience God’s discipline, but even with that everything is filtered through His hands of grace. In a Bible study on “Through Suffering to Triumph” John MacArthur quotes the puritan John Arrowsmith by writing, “There is as much difference between the sufferings of saints and those of the ungodly as there is between the cords with which the executioner pinions a condemned malefactor and the bandages wherewith a tender surgeon binds his patient”
There is blessing even in horrible circumstances if we are in Christ; no matter what others think.  Our flesh would not dare say bring me trials, but having gone through them we can rejoice in God’s work at refining us to look more like Him.
I can just hear that man responding to the people of the village when they find out that next his house burns down, “Oh people,” with a confident tone, “do you not know my God? It’s all good! Yes, it’s all good!”

Thanks for sharing this Eric. Talk about the world of what if. :-)

This reminds me of Steven Curtis Chapman's song God is God from his Declaration release. The chorus goes like this...

God is God and I am not
I can only see a part
of the picture He's painting...
