Chuck and I worked on a job site this week for a lady named Pearl. We painted the outside of the house, demoed the porch and rebuilt it (that was Chuck, Gary and Cody's job). We also took away tons of debris that was in the yard. Pearl was such a sweet woman and very welcoming and appreciative. I've got to tell you how impressed I was with all the kids and how hard they all worked (or at least most of them). They all had great attitudes and a team spirit and all you parents should be proud. The county is so needy and there is so much to do. We only wish we could have done more for Pearl. We are exhausted and sore, but otherwise have come away so blessed. The folks of McDowell county are so caring and hospitable. Please keep Pearl in your prayers as she goes in for knee replacement on 6/27 and then hopes to find employment are she recuperates - no small feat in a place where unemployment is so high. We look forward to getting home and seeing you all on Sunday.
