Stayin Alive: Pro-Life Advocacy in the Obama Era.

Thursday, November 6th, 2008 : By Dan Miller

An Interview with Scott Klusendorf, President of Life Training Institute.

Scott’s forthcoming book, The Case for Life: Equipping Christians to Engage Culture, will be published by Crossway in March 2009.

JT: Just how bad was this election for pro-lifers? Give us the big picture.

SK: There’s no doubt we’ve experienced a crushing defeat in the current political cycle. The executive and legislative branches of the federal government are now firmly in the hands of those deeply committed to the proposition that an entire class of human beings can be set aside to be killed simply because they are in the way of something we want. In the weeks ahead, even before the …

Obama and Abortion, Say What?

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008 : By Dan Miller

John McCormack of the Weekly Standard tells of the growing contradiction between Barack Obama - “the man of principle” and Barack Obama - “the politician searching for votes.”

McCormack: “During the past week, Obama has proven to be woefully ignorant of abortion law, or he has been deceiving voters about the legality of abortion, as well as his own position on the issue. . . . Are we really supposed to believe that Obama, the former editor of Harvard Law Review and onetime lecturer at the University of Chicago law school, doesn’t understand Roe v. Wade and a bill that he’s co-sponsoring?”

Robertson Endorses Giuliani for President

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007 : By Dan Miller

Pat Robertson, ordained Minister and Founder of “The 700 Club” TV show, has endorsed Rudy Giuliani to be the next president of the United States. I find this endorsement startling given Mr. Giuliani’s clear and unflinching pro-abortion stance. Mr. Robertson simply believes that the abortion issue is not the highest priority for a President to consider during this time in the life of our Country. (see speech and read the entire article).

So, I have two questions I would like to kick around:

#1. Where should abortion rank to a Christian and why?

#2. Should leaders in evangelical Christianity endorse candidates at all? Why or why not?

BTW. Sample some of the comments under the …

What Nancy Pelosi believes about Partial-Birth Abortion

Monday, April 23rd, 2007 : By Dan Miller

“This is about a procedure that any parent would want her daughter to have access to if she needed it. And to frame it as an abortion issue is doing a disservice to medicine and to our young women and our country. So I hope we can get the focus back on the fact that this Supreme Court is deciding what medical procedures are necessary for child-bearing women.”

Quoted in the San Francisco Chronicle

Read the following description of the Partial-Birth Abortion process and let me know if you agree.

Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Upheld!

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007 : By Dan Miller

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled today on Gonzales v. Carhart, 05-380 and Gonzales v. Planned Parenthood, 05-1382, upholding a nationwide ban on partial-birth abortion. The Justices voted 5-4 to retain the ban. Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, John Paul Stevens, and David Souter dissented.

Bloomberg: “The law, which has never taken effect, is the first federal abortion restriction since the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision established the constitutional right to end a pregnancy.”

Think about this… you are witnessing history! We have prayed for God’s mercy in this area for years and we are now enjoying His grace on a national scale.

A Baby Only Lives When It Breathes?

Friday, January 26th, 2007 : By Dan Miller

Over the years there have been various attempts to settle the exact moment when a baby is actually made alive. Roy Bowen Ward in an article entitled: “Is the Fetus a Person,” claims that the Hebrew term nephesh is equated to a physical “breath” through the nostrils and that is when life comes into a baby. In Ward’s view, a person does not become a living soul until God breathed into him the “breath of life” at moment of birth. Prior to birth, there was a type of organic life, but not personhood. Since this is how God created Adam and Eve, Ward believes it is the prototype of how the Author of life dispenses …

When Does Life Start?

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007 : By Dan Miller

President Ronald Reagan, said the following regarding life and abortion:

“The real question today is not when human life begins, but, ‘What is the value of human life?’ The abortionist who reassembles the arms and legs of a tiny baby to make sure all its parts have been torn from its mother’s body can hardly doubt whether it is a human being.”

President Ronald Reagan, “Abortion and the Conscience of the Nation,” The Human Life Review, 1983-Spring, Online

Regardless of how poignant President Reagan’s sentiments were/are, it does not categorically answer the question of when is the starting point of human life… or does it? If there is clear evidence that the aborted baby was previously alive (e.g. “body”…”parts”) then …
