graceTALK, August 2010

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010 : By Leadership Team

The Leadership Team answers your questions.

Q1 (1:14). What is the role of psychology in the church today?

Q2 (6:47). What is the “third heaven” mentioned in 2 Cor. 12:2. I have a friend who is a Mormon and he said that this is the highest point in heaven and hopes to one day attain to it. I never heard this before so I wanted to find a good way to engage in my response.

Q3 (18:39). The other day my 3 1/2 year old daughter asked me if demons could hurt her. Being completely unprepared for the question, I responded “Well, if you’re best friends with Jesus (something we’ve talked about many times), …

graceTALK, July 2010

Sunday, July 4th, 2010 : By Leadership Team

The Leadership Team answers your questions.

Q1 (1:22). When I discuss issues with my friends and cite the Bible as a reference my friends often say to me, “Well, that’s your interpretation.” How do I respond to that without feeling like I am just giving another opinion? It just seems like all the force gets taken out of the point I am trying to make.

Q2 (9:54). When the Bible says we will be held accountable for our actions does that also include sins that we’ve already been forgiven for?

Q3 (17:59). When the Bible says that we will be “in the world” but we are not supposed to be “of this world” how …

graceTALK, April 2010

Sunday, April 11th, 2010 : By Leadership Team

The Leadership Team answers your questions.

Q1 (2:50). How do I tell my child to respond to physical bullying? Conventional wisdom and experience leads me to say ‘Do everything you can to avoid a fight, but there does come a time when you have to stand up for yourself and hit back to show the bully that you won’t be a doormat for them.’ This, however, seems to conflict the Scripture’s instruction to love our enemies and turn the other cheek.

Q1 follow-up 1 (16:07). Doesn’t Jesus’ response when struck imply that there could be a good reason to hit someone?

Q1 follow-up …

graceTALK, January 2010

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010 : By Leadership Team

The Leadership Team answers your questions.

Q1 Part1 (2:15). If Christ is the only ONLY way to the Father- What happened to all of the people in the Old Testament? What if a person says, “They somehow had or will have provision made to accept or reject Christ after they lived on Earth.” Please reference where the Bible says that. Also, if provision is made after life on this Earth, what do you say to non-believers that say, “If God wants me to accept Christ – He’ll lead me to do so after I Die?”

Q1 Part2 (11:00). If our faith in Christ is how we are continuously forgiven for our sins and reconciled …

graceTALK, October 2009

Sunday, October 25th, 2009 : By Leadership Team

The Leadership Team answers your questions.

Q1 (26:16). I confess my sins and ask God to forgive me since that is what I have been taught from the Bible. Are you saying that the Bible says confessing your sins and asking for forgiveness is wrong? I just can’t see how asking for forgiveness when I sin against God can be wrong. My relationship seems so much more vibrant when I regularly confess and ask for forgiveness.

Q2 (15:02). Can’t I John 1:9 apply to believers and non-believers? In this case it would be a way a believer would act, but would also be a requirement for a non-believer.

Q3 (18:42). It seems like we …

graceTALK, September 2009

Sunday, September 6th, 2009 : By Leadership Team

The Leadership Team answers your questions.

Q1 (2:35). This question was prompted by the “Jesus is” sermon series on other religions. I would like some thoughts, experiences, advice, and resources to help me think through evangelism as it relates to culture. Specifically, how can we deal with the problem that, when we evangelize people from other cultures and religions, we are not only asking them to accept or reject propositional truths, but we are also asking them to abandon much of their culture, heritage, and family? What can we do to overcome this strong obstacle to the gospel? (I know truth is not culturally relative, but humans comprehend it as such. I’m asking about …

Judgment Day: What’s the Point?

Sunday, July 5th, 2009 : By Eric Farr

Today’s Grace Talk included the following question…

If someone fully believes that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again, yet they are a murderer and kill a ton of people, will they still go to Heaven? Why is there Judgment Day if it is black and white – People who believe in Jesus go to heaven and people who do not go to Hell? What is Judgment Day when we stand before the Lord for then?

Who Goes to Heaven and Why

There is a lot going on in this question. We’ll start by taking a look at the questions raised in the first sentence.

If someone fully believes that Jesus died

graceTALK, May 2009

Sunday, May 24th, 2009 : By Leadership Team

The Leadership Team answers your questions.

Q1 (1:29). In light of recent elections, I have heard Christian-radio citing a verse that we need to claim during these tough times: “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14

Q2 (9:46). Why are Catholics persecuted when for the most part we believe the same things that any normal protestant church believes?

GraceTalk Question: Why do we persecute Catholics?

Sunday, May 24th, 2009 : By Eric Farr

The following was a recent Grace Talk question…

Why are Catholics persecuted when for the most part we believe the same things that any normal protestant church believes?

As I read this question, I have to make a few assumptions.

The alleged persecution is coming from Protestants and or protestant churches like ours.
The persecution is inappropriate and unloving.
This question is directed to the leaders of Grace Fellowship because we have participated in this persecution.

Why Focus on the Differences?
There are clearly differences on topics such as the authority of the church, the nature of justification, the relationship between grace and works, the role of the sacraments, to name a few. The existence of these differences is not disputed by either side. The mere fact …
