Todd Bentley and Wife have Separated
Friday, August 15th, 2008 : By Dan Miller
Disclaimer: I didn’t realize that Hugh was going to blog regarding Mr. Bentley. Although I thought about not posting, I realize that we took very different angles in our approach to the subject. While Hugh’s post is much prettier than mine (oh’ he is so good!), I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night! (just kidding, but it’s all I got!)
If you have been hanging around Grace for the last few months, you have certainly been exposed to the teaching we have been moving through regarding developing discernment when it comes to spiritual gifting. As part of this development, we actually assigned a church-wide project using the actions of Todd Bentley and the “Lakeland …

"We’re Just Plain Gullible"
Friday, August 15th, 2008 : By Hugh Williams
Todd Bentley, the preacher at the center of the so-called “Lakeland Revival,” is separating from his wife.
J. Lee Grady of Charisma magazine writes:
I’m sad. I’m disappointed. And I’m angry. Here are few of my many, many questions about this fiasco:
Why did so many people flock to Lakeland from around the world to rally behind an evangelist who had serious credibility issues from the beginning?
To put it bluntly, we’re just plain gullible.

Here’s a general introduction from an Nightline special focusing on Mr. Bentley. BTW. I understand the people conducting the “investigation” are bent …

Saturday, August 4th, 2007 : By Dan Miller
When discussing the spiritual gift of Prophecy, it is easy to consider the term “prophet” to be used interchangeable between the Testaments. But do we see the same level of authority attached to a “Prophet” of the O.T. as a person with the spiritual gift of prophecy in the N.T.? It seems there is a corresponding figure of an O.T. prophet, but it is not with the spiritual gift of prophecy; it is with the role or office of an Apostle.
It is interesting to note that when we read the New Testament we find times in which the Apostles are connected with O.T. prophets, but N.T. prophets are never connected with O.T. prophets in the same way.
Example #1. …

What is the Gift of Prophecy?
Sunday, July 22nd, 2007 : By Dan Miller
Several weeks back in our featured GraceTalk we considered a question that pointed out a potential problem for people who consider the gift of prophecy to still be in operation and yet these same people consider the cannon (the collection of writings we hold as the Bible) to be closed. The question took aim at an apparent contradiction: if the cannon is closed then how can people “prophecy” since would that not be adding to God’s Word to us? If God is still speaking shouldn’t someone be writing this stuff down? Isn’t it God’s Word. While Pastor Ken took a run at this question, I would like to take it up in a more …
