Worship is the By-Product of Seeing God For Who He Is

Worship service at Grace Fellowship is a time of celebration of who God is and what He has done for us. We gather together to fellowship with one another, to sing songs of praise and adoration to Him, to hear God’s Word, and to celebrate the Lord’s Supper. In doing these things we seek to magnify His worth and to find our satisfaction in Christ alone. Worship is not just music, but happens anytime we see God for who He is. When anyone considers God’s character, worship is the supernatural by-product.

The following are various aspects of our worship together as a church:

Preaching of God’s Word

We worship through the reading and study of the Word of God. Messages are not only relevant to life but are unashamedly grounded in the complete truth of God’s Word. We center our study on the whole counsel of God found in the Bible. We use various means such as videos, dramas, props, etc., but we never compromise the truth of God’s Word simply to draw a crowd. We want to be faithful, and we believe Jesus will build His Church (Matthew 16:18).

Study of God’s Word

Paul tells Timothy to “devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture”. There is great value to reading and studying God’s word in a public setting under the guidance of capable teachers. We embrace this value at Grace Fellowship and our programming reflects this. Each Sunday, we set aside a period of time for Bible study for all ages. For our adults, we utilize the “master teacher” approach. This unique format allows for a large group to be led in study by the lead teacher after which the participants gather in small groups for discussion, reflection, and prayer.

Prayer

We worship through corporate prayers for the body of Christ. It is important for us, as we gather together, to pray for one another and for Christ’s Church. Prayer leads us to find that only in Him will we find true provision and satisfaction. We provide opportunities for prayer as a large group and always stand ready to pray over a person. Each week, the Elders take time to pray specifically for the needs of individuals who have requested prayer.

Worship Through Music

We worship through music by singing contemporary praise songs and choruses as well as traditional hymns — all in a modern musical style. An important part of our worship through music is not only the style of music but also the words that accompany the songs. We desire to sing songs to our God that lift up His greatness and His holiness and that praise Him for His glorious mercy and grace. We seek to have "vertical worship" with songs that put the Lord at the center.

Celebration of the Lord’s Supper

We worship by remembering the incredible sacrifice made by Christ for His Church. There is no more solemn or sacred moment of worship than the breaking of bread and the drinking of the cup in remembrance of Christ’s atoning death and resurrection. We frequently celebrate the Lord’s Supper in remembrance of Him — seeking to reflect, confess, and repent of our sins and then to celebrate the goodness of God and His mercy toward us. This celebration helps us focus on the fact that our hope is not in this world, but in Christ. We are reminded that this world is not our home and that Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection from the dead guarantees us a future with Him, and we want to place that center stage and marvel at how good He is.

What Are Some Songs I May Hear?

iTunes LogoUse iTunes to sample a selection of songs that you may hear on any given Sunday at Grace. We sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God by embracing songs from the past and present in various styles. By putting the Lord at the center of our focus, these songs should encourage the church as a body and the individuals involved.
