Last week we began a short series on the Work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the member of the Trinity whom the Scripture most often represents as being present to do God’s work in the world. We categorized His work in four ways: 1) empowers, 2) purifies, 3) reveals, and 4) unifies. This wee we continue by looking at the ways in which the Holy Spirit purifies, reveals, and unifies. Have you ever wondered “Who is the Holy Spirit?”, “What does the Holy Spirit do?”, or “How does the Holy Spirit work in the life of a believer?” The doctrine of the Holy Spirit is easily one of the most controversial, disagreed-about, avoided, feared, confused, and neglected subjects in the Bible. Pastor Dan has been teaching on the marks of a God-owned church (Knowing Who You Are) and how God equips his church to carry out his mission (Knowing How You Function). We are in week 2 of our “Church Works” series. Last week we uncovered the dynamic that when we know who we are as a church we can live the way we were meant to live as a church. Today, we continue in considering what it means to be an authentic and, therefore, recognizable church. Are there signs of life that every church gives off? What are those bottom-line signs of life that any and every true church will display?

Today, we will point out these signs of life and in the process we will gain a greater understanding what it means to be a church.
