With Nov. 2nd looming large, I have been considering my role as a follower of Christ in how I should vote. The subject is not easy given this is not about Christianity; elections are about choosing who should be involved in governing. While I do believe being a Christian does provide THE basis for unshakable character (a quality desperately needed today) and courage to govern, I don’t believe I should simply vote for a person who wears the title, “Christian.” So, how should I traverse the dangerous duty of voting?
The following are some principles I invoke:
1. Recognize this is a stewardship given to me by God. The following are some articles that may help you in this regard, particularly in relation to the “Tea Party” movement:
2. Act in a responsible manner. This means seeking to know who and what I am voting for. Start HERE.
3. Ask God to give me insight and wisdom in whom I should vote for.
4. Be guarded that my actions will not shift my hope to the system of governance in America, but that I would continually look to King Jesus as my source of hope.
