As a pastor, I have prayed often for people to be healed from illness or disease. There have been times when my prayers have “worked” and other times when they have had little to no affect as far as I could tell. When prayers for healing don’t heal I find myself at a spiritual crossroads: Do I believe God has chosen to do something better or is God ignoring me. Based on the evidence recorded in the Bible, I choose to trust that God is flexing his sovereign muscles to bring about something that will radiate His glory more than answering my request would.
The story of Victor Manuel Watters reminds me again that God heals everyone who trusts in Him, but sometimes that healing comes through dying.
