Have you ever failed at something — a sporting game or a test in school? Have you ever failed in a relationship — an unmet expectation that put strain on the relationship, or maybe unfaithfulness that resulted in emotional scarring that changed the relationship forever? I am confident that you would agree that there is a vast difference between failing in a game or test and a failing in a relationship. While both are difficult, they are worlds apart when it comes to outcome. Failing at an activity can haunt our memory, but failing in a relationship can shape our future. Today we will consider how Jesus faced and dealt with relationship failure in part 2 of the teaching: “Pursuit.”
