Fighter Verse Scripture Memory

Monday, January 11, 2016 by Pat Dirrim Leave a Comment

Fighter Verses

God’s word teaches us that it is the source of all things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter1:3-6).  In His word, which is His direct revelation and full communication to His people, God has “granted to us His precious and very great promises, so that through them we may become partakers of the divine nature” (2 Pet 1:4).

At Grace Fellowship we believe that to be the case and as such we preach and teach the word regularly in our large assemblies as well as in our smaller groups.  We are exiles living in a foreign land and, therefore, we champion Scripture memory at Grace Fellowship through the Fighter Verse memory system.

The act of trying to memorize and then actually having the verse or passage memorized is a huge part of meditating on the word of God.  As we recite the verse over and over and consider what the verse means, we are actively meditating on God’s word.  Then, once the word is hidden in our minds and hearts, it can be drawn upon in the future as we seek to live holy lives of sanctification.  Deut 30:14 says, “But the message is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart; so that you may follow it.”

May we all be like the man described in Psalm 1 as those who ‘delight in the law of the Lord’ who ‘meditate day and night’ upon its beautiful contents!
