Passion Week: Saturday

Saturday, March 31, 2018 by Pat Dirrim Leave a Comment

Saturday of Holy Week was a day of silence.  Apart from the Chief Priests and the Pharisees asking Pilate for permission to post guards at the tomb nothing else is recorded.  There was nothing for the disciples to do except to go home now and wonder if they’d wasted the last few years of their lives…to wonder when the Pharisees and the Romans would be coming after them.  Their leader, the one whom they thought would save them all, the one whom they had said and thought was the Messiah, was now gone!  There was no hope, at least for the next 24 hours…

1.Watch this short video for a more detailed explanation of what occurred on Saturday.

2.Then spend some time reading a harmonized account (the bringing together of each of the Gospel writers’ accounts) of what took place on Saturday.

3.After that mediate upon it and the weight of the burden Jesus was carrying as He, for the joy that was set before Him, obediently continued on His journey to the cross.

4.Finally, use this to lead your family in the worship of our great God throughout the week!
