Leading Your Family

Friday, December 21, 2018 by Pat Dirrim Leave a Comment

One of the greatest privileges a dad has is leading his family into a deeper understanding of who God is and how that amazing God provides so much joy! At the same time, this can be quite a daunting task. Many dads don’t think they are qualified to lead their families in worship of the Lord while others find it hard to make the time. Regardless, there will always be obstacles to overcome and I think one of the biggest ones is fear…fear of the unknown, fear of not having a plan, and fear of not know what to expect.

All of those are reasonable concerns to have which is why I strongly encourage all the dads who are reading this to take five more minutes and read this excellent blog by Tim Challies on how to do family worship and what to expect. There is no “secret sauce” to find! Just start reading the Bible with your kids and wife and engage them. Will you accept the challenge to begin doing this in the new year if you have not been doing it? And, if you have been doing it, will you review what you have been doing to see how it might be done even better for the sake of your family? May we all exercise the authority and carry out the responsibility God has given us to lead our families well to see the beauty of Jesus Christ!
