Behold the Beauty of Our God!

Pat Dirrim   -

Knowing truth and having facts about God are necessary in the life of the Christian. However, simply knowing those facts and truths is not sufficient for a victorious life of savoring Christ.  The Christian must longingly ponder and deeply consider those truths about God. In so doing our hearts will be inclined towards His grandeur, our affections will be stirred towards His beauty, and our actions will be conformed to His ways.

Spend some time reflecting on the soul-stirring realities of our great God listed below as you look at the corresponding Scriptures. Write down how He has manifest those characteristics of His to you in your life – from small ways to big ways. Share some of them with others in praise of this great and magnificent God who is ours!

Know this God — He is utterly trustworthy and holds fast to us in love (Ps 9:1091:14)

Trust this God — He has proven Himself faithful to generation after generation after generation (Ps 36:5; 100:5)

See this God — He is defined by greatness, power, glory, victory, and majesty (1 Chron 29:11; Ps 119:18; Acts 26:18; 2 Cor 3:14-18)

Hear this God — He has done mighty deeds for His children and for His name’s sake (Ps 78:1-7; Acts 7:2-48; Is 48:11)

Taste this God — He is completely good and always satisfying (Ps 34:8; 63:5)

Fear this God — He grants wisdom and life to those who humbly draw near to Him (Prov 1:7; Ps 112:1; Zeph 2:3; Jam 4:10; Jer 32:39)

Run to this God — He will protect and shepherd those who are His (Ps 46:1-2; 62:7; 91:1-7)

Rest in this God — He has done all the work so that we may rest comfortable and securely in Him (Deut 12:10; Prov 1:33; Heb 4:10)

Love this God — He fulfills the desires of those who love Him (Ps 138:8; Rom 8:28; Ps 91:14)

Delight in this God — His will and His ways are the path to blessedness both in this life and in the life to come (Ps 37:4; 40:8; 119:47; 16:11; Jn 15:11)
