Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice—alive, holy, and pleasing to God—which is your reasonable service. Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God—what is good and well-pleasing and perfect. - Romans 12: 1 & 2
A Season for Renewal
ALTAR is an opportunity to join together in preparing our hearts, minds and perspectives to joyfully commemorate the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons for the true reason they exist. As we look forward to enjoying the remembrance of the great gift given to us in Jesus Christ, this time of preparation is intended to remind us that we have been called to the great privilege of following his example and laying down our lives as an offering of thanksgiving and praise for who God is and what he has done.
WEEKLY GUIDES
These guides are provided to support you with exercises and prompts for renewing your mind and transforming your living throughout each week of the ALTAR season.
Daily Dwellings
Daily Dwellings will help you contemplate God’s greatness and remind you why he is worth the sacrifice of your life. Each guide includes three sessions that will help you meditate on that week's Bible passage. While the prompts for each session remain the same for all 5 weeks, your times of dwelling will continue to alter as we move from scripture to scripture.
Fasting Focus
During the ALTAR season, set aside one day of the week to abstain from eating OR choose one activity (instagram, TV, sports, news, etc.) to forgo throughout the week. When you do so, use that week's Fasting Focuses to nourish yourself with truth when you find yourself hungry for what you are setting aside.
Proclamation Prompts
Our primary service/worship to God is rightly representing and proclaiming his greatness. Proclamation Prompts will give you ideas of what you can make known about our Lord to family, friends or the general public throughout the week. (Remember to proclaim to both lost and found).
