Simply put, Core Values define that which is most important to us as a church. They are what we are most passionate about. Sometimes they set us apart as a church that is distinct from others.
Disciple Making
We value making disciples of Jesus through reaching the lost, building the faith of the saved, and equipping believers in ministry and leadership because this is what was commanded in the Great Commission (Mt. 28:19). Our philosophy of ministry, programs, activities, and expenditures are designed to meet this end and are evaluated based on their effectiveness toward this end.
Love
We value loving relationships with fellow believers in order to show the world that we are disciples of Jesus Christ (Jn. 13:34-35). We value loving relationships with our neighbors in order to reveal the loving character of Jesus Christ because the entire law (which reflects his holy character) is fulfilled in keeping this one command (Gal. 5:14). We value the expression of Godly love through truthful, gracious, caring, and sacrificial acts of affection, affirmation, and service.
God-Centered Teaching
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we strive to prioritize what Jesus prioritized. Since Jesus sought above all else to bring honor and glory to the Father, our teaching (in sermons, music, ordinances, etc.) is God-centered. We recognize that man was created for the sake of God’s great name alone and therefore our teaching is centered on God (Ps. 106:8).
The Gospel
We recognize that God’s greatest expression of holiness and our greatest need for forgiveness is expressed in the gospel. Therefore our evangelistic efforts include an exposition of the Law as a mirror of man’s sin, a call to repentance, and an appeal to trust in the finished work of Christ alone for salvation.
Truth
We believe that the very nature of God is truthfulness and therefore we recognize that all truth is God’s truth. We strive to discover truth as revealed in scripture (special revelation) as well as through natural revelation. Within this striving to discover truth, we recognize that the people of our church come from different backgrounds and various stages of understanding. With that in mind, we welcome questions regarding any of our beliefs and interpretations of Scripture and we encourage healthy, God-honoring discussion in the pursuit of truth.
